New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday
staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar against the recent steep hike in
prices of cooking gas, electricity and diesel.
Many prominent
leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Vijay Kumar Malhotra
participated in the protest organised by BJP Delhi Pradesh Mahila
Morcha.
Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj has claimed that the
UPA government will not be able to survive beyond the Winter Session of
Parliament.
Slamming the government as the being the most corrupt, Arun Jaitley said the government was also not sensitive to people.
“The
government is not sensitive- PM says money doesn't grow on trees. We
knew that - but the people of this country will teach the PM a lesson;
if money doesn't grow on trees, votes are also not to be found on
trees. This is the most corrupt government in India's history,” he
said.
The Delhi unit of the party is all set to launch a 40-day
public movement in the national capital from October 14 to protest
against hike in power tariff, cooking gas and oil and decision to allow
FDI in retail by the government.
The party claimed the country is
heading towards mid-term polls and parties like Samajwadi Party, BSP
and DMK, all UPA allies, will not support the government in Parliament
on the issue of FDI.
